Deshaun Watson’s decision could be weeks away

The three-day hearing in the Browns quarterback case Deshaun Watson has finished. So when will Judge Sue L. Robinson make a decision?

According to multiple reports, she has asked both sides to submit written briefs in support of their respective positions by Monday, July 11. At that point, she will have everything she needs to make a decision.

When it does, it will generate a written document, possibly 20 pages or more. He will make findings of fact that will bind the appeal process. She will then apply the personal conduct policy and any other relevant considerations to those facts in order to make a decision.

Our guess (and it’s just a guess) is that a decision will be made by Monday July 25th. Then the appeals process will potentially take place – unless she decides not to impose any discipline.

Again, its findings of fact will be binding on the appeal process. These results will also go a long way in helping the media and fans understand the reasoning for the final decision.

We fully expect Justice Robinson’s written decision to be released. When it comes to players, there is always transparency. If Watson will be punished not very harshly or not at all, the league must hope that Judge Robinson gives a clear and convincing explanation of the result. The league will also have to publish its decision for all to see, not sweep it under the rug as it did with the commanders’ situation.
