Pimpri Chinchwad: Mask with electronic device seized from candidate for recruitment exam
Pimpri Chinchwad Police seized a face mask fitted with an electronic device – which had a SIM card, microphone and battery – from a candidate who had arrived to sit for the police officer recruitment exam in a school in Hinjewadi Friday afternoon. The candidate fled the examination center.
A case was filed against the candidate for the Hinjewadi police station under the articles of the Law of 1982 on the prevention of bad practice in the university, counseling and other specified examinations of Maharashtra.
The complainant, Constable Naik Shashikant Devkant (34) from Hinjewadi Police Station, was on duty at Blue Ridge Public School, which was the center of the written exam for recruiting police officers on Friday, according to the press release.
While checking candidates entering the examination center, the complainant intercepted the accused and found an electronic device connected to his face mask. Before the police could intercept him, the accused fled the area.
Cops added that the device in the face mask had a JBS battery, charging point, Airtel SIM card, switch and mic, all connected with wires. Research is underway to catch the accused.
Meanwhile, at another examination center in Bavdhan Budruk, Pimpri Chinchwad police arrested a person and his accomplice for allegedly appearing as a fictitious candidate.
Police identified the defendants as Munaf Hussain Baig from Jalna and Prakash Ramsingh Dhanawat from Aurangabad. Police said Munaf showed up for the exam instead of Dhanawat and forged his signature on the exam document. The exam supervisor lodged a complaint with the Hinjewadi Police Station.
